A fresh spin on a genre that has been flooded with games in the past several years, Moonlighter stands above the rogue-like dungeon-crawler crowd. Here’s the twist: the protagonist moonlights as a dungeon crawler. Will has a day job, though. He runs a shop in town. The items you find during your nightly dungeon crawl can be sold at your shop the following day. You can adjust the prices to get the most profit without upsetting your customers.
The art is beautiful, the world is enchanting, the combat is tight and satisfying, and inventory management is a puzzle in itself. Half business simulation, half dungeon-crawler, Moonlighter is an easy game to pick up for what you think will be for just a few minutes, but you’ll find yourself saying “just one more run through the dungeon” more than you’d expect.
