Sci-Fi fans will get a kick of out this quick and easy read. Once you crack it open, though, it may remind you of a 2014 Tom Cruise action flick with a similar premise. That’s right, novel All You Need Is Kill is the source material for the film Edge of Tomorrow (later rebranded as Live, Die, Repeat).

A science fiction Groundhog Day scenario, Keiji Kiriya is reliving the same day over and over. Humanity is losing a war to an alien species known as “Mimics.” Given the opportunity to fight the same fight over and over, Keiji can grow as a soldier and understand the battle a little more each time he loops.

It’s a Japanese light novel (don’t worry, there’s an English translation!) that spawned not only the Tom Cruise film, but a manga and graphic novel as well! It’s a great concept, a lot of fun and it has a lot of heart. Definitely worth checking out!
